Dear Philip, I have been away for just about over two weeks. Until today I did not have the chance to check out your blog. This evening I covered whatever I had missed and you have got to believe me: My eyes are full of tears. This is how much I can relate to "by far most of your writings". In "my" crazy, unbelievable, amazing, intriguing, unusual world, you are a "genius". The reason is that it is only a genius that can express a whole emotional world in just a few words. A world that someone else than the author (ie:you) can "immediately" and "fully" relate to and that can wake up trememndous emotional rides in others, even in complete stangers. I dont want to single out any of your writings as an "example" becasue there are just too many of them. Almost all of them. And the ones that dont wake up emotions in me, I am sure will wake up in someone else. Thank you very much. Uncle joe
As far as my poetry goes, I have never received such a compliment as magnanimous and touching in my entire life. The thought of publishing my poetry is a recent phenomenon and most of the stuff was not written with the intent of being viewed. That said, its compliments like this that give me faith in art and poetry, and that keep me going as an aspiring writer. That said, I also feel utterly unworthy of such praise to the point where I actually experience guilt, but that’s o-k because it inspires to write stuff that will one day be worthy of such admiration. Thank you very much for reading, I hope that you will always enjoy my work.
Reminds me of actually sitting and watching it....something seemingly so mundane, but very well described.
--Its funny, because I was just sitting, and writing down what I saw: A crow on the tip of a tree, and then another one came. There is no symbollism, or at least not in a cheap way where I sat down and thought, "oh two people cant be 'on top' at the same time, so lets make an analogy" No, this was a direct observation, completely emprical, and by just pondering the little moments deeply enough, you appreciate the little principles all around you and deep comtemplation of anything, even your thumb, leads to incredible things (im not just being melodramtic, I've read articles and quotes to back this). Leonardo De Vinci said something roughly about this same principle.
You're descriptions of the mundane seem to be recurring theme in your hiakus. I approve! Seriously, you capture the beauty of something like a crow in a tree very well; you put it into words nicely, and in a manner that is pleasing to read. I can't describe it right, but something in how you use language to bring out the simple is inspiring.

I discovered haiku in the summer of 2004 while browsing poetry forums. Since then I kept a little journal of my haiku and in winter of 2005/6 I started other writings i.e.- short story, prose, and poetry. All my writing essentially centers around haiku. All my haiku are 5-7-5 syllables.
